Association Internationale pour l'Effort Volontaire (IAVE)
L'Association Internationale pour l'Effort Volontaire a été créée en 1970 aux Etats-Unis par un groupe de personnes appartenant à différents pays, mais partageant une même idée de l'aide mutuelle et du volontariat. L'IAVE est une organisation internationale non gouvernementale, son but est la promotion de toute activité de bénévolat et de volontariat dans le monde entier ; elle réunit environ 800 individus et organisations membres appartenant à une centaine de pays différents. Depuis 1997, l'IAVE collabore avec le Programme pour le Volontariat des Nations Unies et avec CIVICUS.

Association of Voluntary Service Organisations, AVSO

L'Association pour le Service Volontaire a été fondée à Bonn en décembre 1989 au cours d'une conférence internationale sur le volontariat à long terme, son nom initial était "Steering Group of Voluntary Service Organisations".
L'AVSO est une organisation internationale non gouvernementale à but non lucratif, sa mission est de constituer une plateforme, au niveau international, pour les organisations à but non lucratif. Le but de l'association est de favoriser et de promouvoir le développement du volontariat à long terme. Aujourd'hui l'AVSO compte 13 organisations membres, mais elle représente en total environ 80 organisations, car certains de ses membres sont, en réalité, des réseaux réunissant plusieurs associations.

Comité de Coordination du Service Volontaire International (CCIVS)
Le Comité de Coordination du Service Volontaire International a été créé sous l'égide de l'UNESCO en 1948 afin de coordonner les organisations non gouvernementales de volontariat à travers le monde. Grâce à son réseau de 140 membres dans plus de 100 pays le CCSVI aide les volontaires à définir au mieux leurs objectifs et les possibilités d'engagement.
